Day 3!!!
Balanciaga: Alexander Wang's debut collection at Balanciaga! We all know how important that it, and I think he did really well!! We recognized Balanciaga's clean lines and Wang's touch with the knit tees and the athletic vibe (look at the pumps)! I think Wang succeeded in honoring Christobal's heritage and in imcorporating new twists to the iconic brand. We cannot wait to see more of Wang's influence on Balanciaga!
Carven: Guillaume Henry took his inspiration from the 90's to create this SS14 collection! I really love the buttoned skirt!
Ann Demeulemeester: Looove the big hats/! Lots of prints!
Balmain: Olivier Rousteing wanted "wanted to explore something casual and sporty" because "It's less evening and more real. It's more me." Well, I'm loving the result! There may be less bling bling but there still are beautiful classic Balmain dresses and cool shoes!
Sharon Wauchob: Relaxed glam and embellishment at Sharon Wauchob!
Nina Ricci: What a magnificent collection from Peter Copping who describes it as "It's masculine meets feminine". The flowers, the tulle, the lace, the mix of fabrics... Everything was perfect according to me!
Paco Rabanne: Beautiful collection!
Barbara Bui: A tribute to denim!
Rick Owens: WOW!!! Ok there are so many cool things about this Rick Owens fashion show! Owens' clothes became finally alive in the rythm of these brilliant step dancers, dancing in nothing but Rick Owens' sneakers in collaboration with Adidas! I think it's great that designers shake things up once in a while and break the rule of "5'10 slim" models ! Rick Owens' clothes had never been better worn than in this collection! They looked prettier than ever! You really must watch the video, it's worth it! Here the link: http://oaknyc.com/blog/video-rick-owens-ss14/
Lanvin: Alber Elbaz desbribes his collection as "an homage to the fabric industry", and I couldn't agree more! Glimmering fabrics, satin, brocades, tweed... And luxury "garbage bags" ! And the pumps/sandals were magnificent!
Christian Wijnants: I admire that Wijnant's collection was paying homage to the Islamic women in Somalia who play basketball, in transgression of religious custom and at risk to their own lives. We ought to step up for these brave women and for their rights!
